Nitsan Bartov

Nitsan Bartov is an architect and researcher working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, architecture and urbanism. Since 2024 he has been an Industrial PhD Fellow at Henning Larsen and the Royal Danish Academy's Institute of Architecture, Urbanism and Landscape, supported by the Rambøll Foundation. His research asks how AI can help architects move from reducing harm to regenerative urban design, combining data on soil, materials, daylight, lifecycle and emissions with the qualitative, historical and social layers of a place.

Alongside the PhD, Nitsan is involved in Henning Larsen's AI strategy and runs the firm's internal AI training, supporting the adoption of AI across its global offices. He developed the studio's four AI principles, Literacy, Transparency, Agency and Accountability, and has taught the "Opening the Black Box" AI literacy workshop in New York, Oslo, Munich, Berlin, Aarhus, Copenhagen and Singapore. He also teaches "AI for Architects", Henning Larsen's course for other practices and teams.

This fall he is a visiting scholar at Cornell AAP in New York, where he teaches a course on AI and Regenerative Urban Design, joins studio reviews as a guest critic, organises public presentations and tours, and takes part in ongoing research. He is Krea's Ambassador for Architecture, led the Krea for Architecture cohort with Krea Education, and sits on DS 855, Denmark's national committee for AI standardisation.

Nitsan holds a B.Arch from the Azrieli School of Architecture at Tel Aviv University and an M.A. in Computation in Architecture from the Royal Danish Academy, where he also worked as a research assistant at CITA and IBBL. Before that, he worked in practice on large-scale residential and urban renewal projects in Israel.

Outside of work he is identitetsansvarlig at Roskilde Festival, and an active volunteer and former board member at Building Diversity, a Danish non-profit for inclusion in architecture. He speaks regularly at conferences, universities and studios in Europe and the US.
