“Glass Bodies” is a series of three 3D printed glass sculptures, created by shaping a dancer’s movements, envisioned by architect and digital designer Nitsan Bartov. The movements are captured through a motion-capture suit (courtesy of Rokoko), to later be translated into glass sculptures. The static sculptures encapsulate the human motion and the emotion behind it, suggesting a deeper connection with the viewer and igniting a sense of kinesthetic empathy.
The models have been printed in glass, which, similar to humans, is both solid and brittle, transparent and mysterious. Each sculpture embodies a human emotion expressed through movements curated and performed by the visual artist and dancer Olivia Brix. The series is an experiment in enabling viewers to connect with a solid object, offering a visual link to the complex vocabulary of the body’s language without the need for dialogue.
The project was done in collaboration with Olivia Brix, and with the contribution of Rokoko Studio (motion capture suit) and Maple Glass Printing (3D Printing).
The models were presented in FORMNEXT 2023 exhibition in Germany, as part of the Maple Glass Printing stand.
