The Developed Surface

This project addresses the potential of new forms of tectonic expression through digital tools and how architects can work with them in a way that is sensitive to historic architectural contexts. Alongside practical explorations, Suzi examines the critical background to be able to challenge and critique the methods and means of producing novel architectural form and the aesthetic implications and qualities of the work in situ.

I worked with Suzi for over a year, assisting in the development of the parametrically-designed column cladding, the customized digital toolpath and the fabrication of the parts, using ceramic 3D printing.
